Commissioned by the Vermont Marble Company (VMC), this 1937 film depicts the geological origins of marble before moving on to scenes of marble being quarried in Danby and West Rutland, sawn into slabs in Center Rutland, and shaped and carved in the VMC mill in Proctor, Vermont. It concludes with examples of buildings and monuments made of VMC marble. The 1937 film is in black and white. A second film, “Marble Today and Tomorrow,” will be presented Saturday, August 27, 2022
